Zebra Lionfish in Dar es Salaam

A zebra lionfish (Dendrochirus zebra), also known as a dwarf lionfish, rests on a barrel sponge (Xestospongia testudinaria) off the coast of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Lionfish have venomous spines that can be very painful if touched. Due to this, and heavy over-fishing in the area they have very few predators. Photographed with a Sony DSC-RX100M II Camera in a Nauticam housing with a INON S-2000 Strobe, a hand-mounted SOLA 2100 Video Light and a Sola P1200 red focus light.
