An Alien-like Octopus

Octopus usually live in coral crevices or burrows which provide them protection against predators. Here an alien-like white-spotted octopus (Octopus macropus), photographed while scuba diving in Dar es Salaam, is without a den, resting among a mossy sea floor while relying on his built-in camouflage to keep him safe. Notice how well the spiked texture of his skin matches the vegetation on the sea floor.

Photo was shot with a Sony DSC-RX100M II Camera in a Nauticam housing with a INON S-2000 Strobe, a hand-mounted SOLA 2100 Video Light and a Sola P1200 red focus light.
