An atlantic tomcod (Microgadus tomcod), an inshore bottom-dwelling fish that spawn in estruaries or tidal waters. Their principal diet is shrimp. The tomcod’s tasty flesh made it commercially important in the 1800s. Today only sportfishermen seek them.
