Banded Coral Shrimp

Stenopus hispidus

A banded coral shrimp (Stenopus hispidus) photographed while scuba diving off the coast of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Here the cleaner shrimp advertises to passing fish by slowly waving its long white antennae. When a client arrives, the shrimp uses its three pairs of claws to remove parasites, fungi and damaged tissue from the fish.

Photo was shot with a Sony DSC-RX100M II Camera in a Nauticam housing with a INON S-2000 Strobe, a hand-mounted SOLA 2100 Video Light and a Sola P1200 red focus light.
