A clearfin lionfish (Pterois radiata), also known as the tailbar lionfish, radiata lionfish or radial firefish perches on a coral rock off the coast of Dar es Salaam. This is the only lionfish species which has spines without any markings. The clearfin lionfish is mainly nocturnal, and spends most its day hiding in rock crevices, small caves or under overhangs. It emerges at night to feed on invertebrates such as crabs and shrimps.
