Astropyga radiata, the red urchin, fire urchin or false fire urchin spawning into the water. Taken on a night dive on Octopus top reef off Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at 14 meters. As the light hit the urchin it began spawning and I snapped the shot. Not a particularly good image but some lucky timing. The current washed it away in a short space of time. Taken with a Canon 7D and 24-70mm f4 L lens, using an Ikelite housing , twin ikelite DS 161 strobes and using two Big Blue VL 2500 as focusing lights. 1/125 F9.5 ISO 100
