A melon butterflyfish (Chaetodon trifasciatus) on a reef off the coast of Dar es Salaam. Melon butterflyfish are found in the Indian Ocean from East Africa to Western Java. The monogamous adults usually swim in pairs and may be territorial and aggressive toward other fish. They feed exclusively on coral polyps, particularly of cauliflower coral (Pocillopora).
